Common Equipment - The core of the System 1100 is the compact subrack, which houses the plug-in modules and supplies power and data communications to these units. The subrack has 15 slot positions. 2 of these positions house the dual redundant power supplies (available in both 48V DC and 100-240V AC versions) and 1 position is reserved for the Network Management Board. The remaining 12 positions are used for traffic cards or for the optional 4-port Ethernet switch, which can be used to create a Data Communications Network for management information via the System 1100's Optical Supervisory Channel.
