The A13c is a complete VME-PC, ideal for VMEbus applications which need video output and thus require a Windows or Linux based environment. Equipped with a Tualatin processor, the A13c is a powerful, yet low-power 6U CPU board which needs only one slot in a VMEbus system. The VME-PC can be delivered with a Celeron processor (400MHz / 100MHz FSB / 256K L2 Cache) or Pentium III processor (933MHz / 133MHz FSB / 512K L2 Cache). Both versions feature a 64-bit VME bridge with full master/slave functionality as well as a fast 64-bit/66-MHz local PCI interface to support the PMC mezzanine slots. The onboard SO-DIMM accepts up to 512MB DRAM and the CompactFlash slot allows use of silicon disks. The board is provided with the 815G chip set, which contains an embedded graphics controller. The onboard USB port is a universal interface to a variety of peripheral devices (such as keyboard, mouse, printer, modem, or video camera). For high-speed networking, the Pentium III version of the A13c features Gigabit Ethernet while the low-power Celeron version is equipped with Fast Ethernet. All connections mentioned above are conveniently available at the card's front panel. Further I/O is available via a transition module: a serial interface, (E)IDE, a hub interface for TFT/video, a Codec connection for AC'97 Audio, a floppy interface, as well as two PS/2 interfaces for keyboard and mouse. Additionally the A13c is equipped with four UARTs offering all types of legacy serial I/O. For mass storage, the A13c provides an Ultra ATA/66 EIDE interface, suitable for any EIDE hard disk and CD-ROM drive. In addition, the A13c can be equipped with two PMC mezzanine cards. PMCs may particularly be used for intelligent telecom I/O. The modular combination of I/O functionality on a single-board computer allows to build up tailored control systems which appear as customized solutions based on standard components. Depending on the kind of I/O requirements, further standard versions of A13 are available for other mezzanine standards.
