M14 (MEN MIKRO)

The M14 is based on the M-Module ANSI mezzanine standard. It can be used as an I/O extension in any type of bus system, i.e. CPCI, PXI, VME or on any type of stand-alone SBC. Appropriate M-Module carrier cards in 3U, 6U and other formats are available from MEN or other manufacturers. The M14 M-Module permits connection of peripheral devices by means of a SCSI interface. The FAS216U, the core of the M-Module, has a buffer controller interface for I/O functions and fast DMA accesses in different forms. A "pseudo" DMA interface is destined to use the M14 on a carrier board even without a DMA controller. The FAS216U contains single-ended drivers and receivers. It has a buffered command structure and is able to release common SCSI sequences without microprocessor intervention. The M14 is an ideal solution to enhance SBCs by SCSI functionality in a cost-effective way.
