M40 (MEN MIKRO)

The M40 is based on the M-Module ANSI mezzanine standard. It can be used as an I/O extension in any type of bus system, i.e. CPCI, PXI, VME or on any type of stand-alone SBC. Appropriate M-Module carrier cards in 3U, 6U and other formats are available from MEN or other manufacturers. The M40 is a Profibus interface for high-end fieldbus applications. The internal RISC CPU of the MC68302 is programmed to run the low-level software independent of the internal communication channels. The CPU is used up to layer 7. The complete Profibus software runs locally on the M-Module without interaction of the main CPU. Data communication between the MC68302 and the host CPU is done via shared DRAM of the M40. Firmware must be downloaded after power-up. The RS485 interface is supplied by an on-board DC/DC converter.
